Today I want to introduce you to one of my very best friends. Sharon and I met in the Summer of 2003, when we ended up in the same Design 1 class at Saint Petersburg College. I think it was fated for us to be friends. Sharon is eccentric and eclectic, she is simply put — outrageous! When you enter a room, you know immediately if she is present. Sharon has a BIG personality and because of that she keeps me on my toes. She makes me laugh, she cheers me up when I am down, and she constantly inspires me.
Sharon and her dog, Elsa
Sharon and I talk on the phone almost every single day, sometimes, several times. We also Skype. Do you skype? I LOVE skype! If you don't know what I'm talking about, you need to check it out. Skype makes calls between computers and if each person has a camera on their computer, you can see each other. This is so easy and so cool! I skype with my family and closest friends. It makes me feel so much closer to them, the miles simply disappear.
Anyway, Sharon and I "hang out" on Skype. We connect, she's usually in her studio working on a new sculpture, drawing or painting and I'm usually designing or blogging. It's like being in the same room, we chat and work together. There are times when neither of us are talking, times when one gets up and leaves the room. I can see what she's working on, which is very cool.
Sharon called me on the phone the other day to ask if my mail had been delivered yet. I was expecting something from her, but I had no idea what it was. So while we talked, I walked out to the mailbox and there it was! I opened the package while we chatted and darn, that girl made me cry.
Most of you know that my beloved dog Sheldon passed away earlier this month. This is one of the photos I posted on my blog…
This is what was in the package…
I started searching through my frames, so I could hang this immediately. Sharon and I hung up and got on Skype. I showed her the frame I chose, this is why I love Skype. Look at this one, do you like the double matting? Oh Sharon, I LOVE it!
This is my favorite photo of Sheldon, he's on my bed with his red tennis ball. Every night when we were ready to call it a day, I would get in bed and Sheldon would jump up with this ball. We played fetch for a while, then when he tired, he would choose one of his other favorite toys and get down in his bed. He always slept with a toy.
This is a most precious gift, from a most treasured friend. I took a photo of this drawing in front of the pillows that are also in the drawing.
And here it is hanging on the wall next to my bed. I see it every morning when I wake up and every night when I go to bed. This brings me much happiness.
Sharon is so talented, here is just a sampling of some of her other work…
Thank you Sharon, your friendship means the world to me.
Before I go, I have one more thing to get to…drumroll, please. The winner of my giveaway is
Tracy, I hope you enjoy this chair as much as I enjoy mine and I hope that you'll take it somewhere to watch the sunset. Email me, there's a link in my sidebar.

I'm a big fan of Skype, especially since I travel around the world. Nothing like making a free phone call from Pakistan.

Yes, Skype is a lot of fun. We like to use it to connect with family in Iowa when we go to Florida for the winter.

Rhonda, this is just amazing! I know you mentioned it yesterday at lunch, but seeing it... it is WONDERFUL! Sharon must be one of the most special people ever. This was absolutely THE most perfect gift for you! PERFECT! It is beautiful in every sense of that word.
Okay, I'm off and running. Got to write a nomination for a volunteer agency to win an award! I hope they do because they deserve it!
I had a GREAT time yesterday!!!

Hi Rhonda
The picture is fantastic. It looks beautiful in its frame. That's so kind of your friend to make that especially for you. When you look at it, it will remind you of both Sheldon and Sharon. It's great you can both skpe and keep in touch. I will have to look into getting that too.
Glad Stella entertained you yesterday!

It warms my heart to know that you have a friend most dear, one who can weather storms with you and rejoice the happiness of the day.
Her gift is indeed a testimony to her insight and caring.
And I am sure she sees those qualities in you as well.
Hi! Loved the story about your friend Sharon, what a lovely present to have received from her. I lost my precious kitty cat, Smudge, this week and can certainly understand how much you are missing Sheldon.
(Thought I was following your blog, and just discovered that I wasn't - sorry about that, I am now!)

Rhonda that is so touching! I am so happy to know you have a friend like this. One who knows you so well and knows how special your relationship with your dog was to you! I could tell she has quite a presence from her photo already. She is an excellent artist! Thanks for sharing this story it made my day!
The blog world has really changed a lot of us hasn't it.
Her work is beautiful and the lab puppy looks so much like our 13 year old girl used to look.
Great to make such a strong connection with someone.
