I Love A Bargain!

This is my first time participating in Nifty Thrifty Tuesdays with Linda @ Coastal Charm. I just love her and her blog, so I decided to join in the fun. Who doesn't like bragging about the bargains you find? Heck, that's half the fun!

Today I'm going to share a few goodies I found just before my move to Georgia. Up first?

The Chair!

I found this chair at a yard sale in Lakeland, Florida and instantly fell in love. I know it looks pretty pathetic right now, but envision it painted shabby chic style and reupholstered in some fabulous white fabric yet to be discovered. Thanks to my blogging buddy over at Sissie's Shabby Cottage, I now know what kind of paint to buy. Thanks Sissie for all your inspiration and encouragement!

I love the carving at the top…

and the wheels on the front legs.

I have no idea what the purpose of this chair was originally, its a little on the smaller side, but I'm going to use it in my bedroom. How much did I pay, you ask? I walked away after handing the guy $2.00. SCORE!

Next is this little thingamijiggy. The top drawer opens and holds a box of tissues (see the slot on top?) and then there are two smaller drawers below. I'm planning to paint this all white and you can probably guess that I'm going to encrust it in seashells. I think it will look fabulous. For only $1.00, I think I will have a unique piece once I finally get around to all these projects.

Now the rules say we can share bargains that we found at retail stores also, so here's the table I found at Home Depot. Original price $179. My price? $37! Yes I said, thirty-seven dollars! This was the last one they had and they switched to a different manufacturer, so with no questions ask, I grabbed it up quick! I'm planning on putting in a small deck in this area of my yard as soon as I finish unpacking all these darn boxes.

Now the rules didn't say anything about these next goodies, but yesterday I was at my cousins house in Neptune Beach in Florida and she GAVE me these Newport Sandals by Keen. She bought them last year and only wore them once. She's a flip flops kind of gal and since we both wear the same size, I became the happy recipient. They retail for $95 and I got them for FREE!

She also threw in a couple of her foam visors. She has tons of them (flips flops and a foam visor to match each of her outfits) and she knew I was looking for some. They weigh nothing and you don't get that "visor headache" like the other kind causes. I can't tell you how happy I was that she included the pink one. Isn't life grand when your cousin knows your favorite color? Thanks, Jackie, love you so much!

That's it for this week, now be sure to stop by Linda's to see who else is sharing their nifty, thrifty finds! You just may find some fabulous inspiration of your own.

You tugged at my heart strings... I LOVE a bargain! The chair is spectacular! Love the box too. Can't wait to see them with your special touches...

Free is really great! I have some of those visors. WalMart sells them in the craft dept for about $1. They have solid colors, but you can decorate them anyway you want. They're great for the pool and they don't flatten your hair. They're terrible in the wind, though.

Guess I'll have to post about those great deals I got at the consignment shop...

Love that little chair! I also love how old furniture often has those cute little wheels on the bottom -- where the heck did they GO on all that furniture?

I picture people rolling down their streets on dressers and side chairs and little end tables ....

Glad you liked my Majolica bargain. I knew it was something special when I spied it, but my daughter was horrified when I put it in the cart. Ah, kids -- what do they know?

PS love the image of you rescuing tree frogs. One of the bathrooms at our family beach house was decorated in FROGS -- my Mom loved them.

I love bargains, and I think you did extremely well in that department with the HD table, your freebies, and that chair, which should turn out so cool when you're done!! No Irish born gal here! Just wanted to show the old homestead that is "going back to the land," as the Irish say. Hope to get there before it is completely gone. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Bargains are dangerous... they lead to my house being stuffed! :p

But that does look like an elegant chair!

Did you catch my post from last Friday? World Oceans Day is here again and I'm doing another Oceanic Blog-A-Thon!!! Spread the word and join in again? ;o)

hugs!

I love the beach and everything that goes with it! I love the waves lapping at my feet. I love the feel of the sand between my toes. I love the roar of the Pacific and the gentle waves of the Gulf of Mexico in Florida. Let's talk about beaches around the world, bonfires, building sandcastles, swaying palm trees, flamingos, clambakes, sunrises and sunsets. If it's tropical, it fits this blog!
