My blogging friend Kathy posted these questions on her blog Emptynester and I agree with her — it does looks like fun and a great way to learn more about each other and share a bit of Christmas cheer.
(1) What is your favorite Christmas movie/s?
(2) What is your LEAST favorite Christmas movie/s?
and Elf with Will Ferrell
(3) What is your favorite Christmas Song?

Eartha passed away last year, but in her lifetime she performed this song every Christmas. The last time she sang this song for the public was Christmas 2006 and she was still just as sexy at 79-years-old as she was in her role as Catwoman.
This youtube video overlaps three different years of Eartha singing my favorite.
(4) What Christmas song(s) drives you crazy?
Any of them done elevator-style, I'll take the escalator thank you very much.
(5) What is your favorite Christmas drink?
I think this year it will be the Candy Cane Dreamtini from Bunny @ The Paris House this year. (I'm posting this recipe tomorrow and will be introducing you to Bunny.)

(6) What is your favorite Christmas memory?
Spending her first Christmas with
my granddaughter
my granddaughter
(7) What is the best toy/gift you've received on Christmas?
Christmas of 1999 my son gave me a drawing he did of my parents dancing. He did this from a photograph from one of their many cruises. I will always treasure this gift.

(8) What is the worst toy/gift you've received on Christmas?
Two polyester pantsuits from my first husband in 1969 — same exact style, two colors — one blue, one yellow. Need I say more? I will tell you those were my first and last polyester pantsuits. I have a picture of these beauties, but I'm not posting it here. lol
(9) What do you LOVE about the holidays?
Decorating, cooking, baking and
spending time with
family and friends.
spending time with
family and friends.
(10) What annoys you about the holidays?
People who think it's all about the presents!
(11) Do you prefer a star or an angel on top of a Christmas tree? Or something else?
Angel, I always have an angel on top of my tree.

(12) What is your family favorite recipe at Christmas?
Cornbread dressing with giblet gravy and homemade cranberry sauce.
Yummy!

(13) Are you a Grinch or a Who at Christmastime?
Definitely a Who!

(14) Christmas light displays - Love them or Hate them?
Love, love, love them!

(15) Santas at the mall - Fun times or Creepy?
I love Santa, but I liked it when I was young and Santa was outside with his reindeer. We used to go to Santa's Village in the mountains outside of Los Angeles. There was also a Santa's Village in Santa Cruz at the beach, but as much as I love the beach, the mountains had snow!
(16) Christmas cards - do you send them, yes or no?
This is the very first year I will not be sending out cards and it is probably what's bugging me the most. I know I'll be making a lot of phone calls this year!
(17) What is the best thing about Christmas, in your opinion?
The time spent with friends and family. This was always a big deal for in California, Christmas Eve there was always a gathering of friends at my house and Christmas Day was spent with family. I don't know many people here in Florida and family members are few. There are now only four of us here — Sister, Daughter, Granddaughter and myself.

(18) What is the worst thing about Christmas?
Not being able to have
both my kids
under the same roof.
both my kids
under the same roof.
(19) When do you put the tree up and take it down?
This varies from year-to-year and this year I'm not decorating. Sister put up a few outdoor decorations before Thanksgiving, including my little animated Snow Girl — she's my fav. My darling daughter prepared Thanksgiving this year and she already had her tree and home decorations up. They looked beautiful, takes after her mom for sure!
So, I'll be having a virtual Christmas through all your blogs!
(20) Out of the 12 days of Christmas, which day and item would you want your truelove to give to you?
I'd like to have the partridge in a pear tree, I would love to make this pear tart. Are pears in season now? And then there's the question of the the partridge. What do I do with the darn bird after the holidays?

Find the recipe here.
(21) Why do you think that Grandma got run over by a reindeer?
Rudolph's nose blew a fuse.
(22) Who is your favorite reindeer?
Dancer! I spotted this ad in Martha Stewart's Living magazine this month and flipped. Normally, I always buy something special to add to my Christmas collection and this would have been it this year, but given the economy and since Sister and I are not working, I will be crafting this years addition. When I went to the website to check it out, they were sold out.
They have other amazing goodies and if you decide to indulge, click on this ad and you can read the code for free shipping until December 15th.. (I am not affiliated with this company, I just love them!)
(23) Do you believe in Santa Claus?
Why, do you know something I don't know?
(24) What is your favorite smell at Christmastime?
A crackling fire, and yes we do have a fireplace
here at The Hut!
here at The Hut!

(25) What would make you happy at Christmas this year?
To spend the day with both of my children and my granddaughter. To have my parent's around, but I know their spirit is always there. My son lives in California and it brings on a flood of tears just thinking about another Christmas without him. But at least I know he is safe, if I could really have just one wish, if would be for World Peace.
I know this is cliché, but I would give up everything if each child, mother and father everywhere could feel safe, be well-fed and have a roof over their heads.
As Kathy said on her blog, feel free to copy these questions and post them on your blog. If you do, please come back and let me know so that I can read your answers as well.
Merry Christmas!

Hi Rhonda!
I enjoyed reading all your Christmas likes and dislikes and memories. The 1960 family photo is so wonderful! Your parents' took so much care and attention to make that a happy portrait! Your grand daughter is so adorable!
I'd love to do this meme, but I'm having major computer problems and have to do some time consuming computer maintenence. I was able to get a post up about the opera we attended last night, but nothing but computer trouble today...sigh
I enjoyed catching up with you! I'm glad you feel better. Your son has such an amazing and interesting life, and I loved your fun caricature portrait!

oooh! I love this idea!
But will have to wait 'till I get more in the Xmas frame of mind and have a bit of time on my hands. I'll bookmark your post as a reminder!
I think you'll enjoy some of my answers whenI finally get it up! ;o)
PS luuuuv that 1960s family photo!
As they say on Family Feud...good answers.
I totally missed the whole world peace thing on mine. Like my title said It is all about me isn't it?
That is a fun list! You threw me with the fact you have a 18 year old granddaughter...because you didn't seem much older than I am in the 1960 picture. You must have started that grandma thing early!
The Dept. 56 reindeer can be found on ebay for better prices...I don't know if they have that one, but they have several.
This was fun!

If I get time, I'll try to do this one. It is fun. Loved your answers! Have to share a favorite Christmas memory... Not even mine. A friend posted it on facebook. When asked about favorite memories, she replied, "Standing on the balcony, watching it snow, when the Christmas lights came on and spelled marry me." Is that not just the greatest!
Hi Rhonda! I'm so glad you did this, what a great list you have. I adore the portrait your son did of your parents, what a priceless gift. And I just think it's too funny that we have the same "worst gift". I was a cute little hippie girl too, and I'm sure that was their staid, Indiana farm family way of saying I didn't dress appropriately. Which is probably why I ended up marrying a musician lol. Have a great day! Kathy
So cool to learn all that about you! I love all the Christmas lights, it brings light and festivity to the house..., in a way I could probably have it all year long. Then it's just leisure time with my husband, and lots of good food of course. Growing up in Switzerland Santa came to visit our home until I discovered that he wasn't real. I must have been four or so. Santas in malls are pretty creepy I think! Enjoy the season!!
HI Rhonda
So glad you are feeling better and back blogging stronger than ever
Sorry I've been missing but as you know I been lost in the project from hell. Well It is over now.. just wrapping it up and will be off in a few weeks.
Love this Christmas post.. so many delightful ways to enjoy Christmas and many shared memories here. I think my favourite though is the family photo and the fact your Dad bought you girls corsages... very sweet memory indeed !!!
